This page in the Sorcerer Wiki strikes me as being particularly important.
Going off what the first part of that page says, in our game, demons are, in essence, hopelessness. Despair. (Fun aside: when Humanity reaches 0, does a character become a demon??)
As for the second part, Mtoro summoned Ajani to help him escape from war-torn Kenya; he keeps Ajani around because he will surely be deported -- or worse -- if he doesn't. This America has no love for immigrants.
Why are your characters sorcerers? What is their need?

Why be a sorceror?
I try to play up my guy's reluctance and naivette, but he's a sorceror for one reason: He's already in too deep. He has six months to live and traffics with demons. What hope does his soul have? He keeps using Lymov to helpout the resistance, thinking that might clear his slate enough for, well, maybe purgatory. _________________ Thomas
