Minor bitch rant...
They made the ogre look different for 4E in Desert of Desolation...

And now the ogres go back to kinda looking like they used to.

At least those Ogre Brutes can be used for enlarged orcs.

It makes me think that even now, they're still kind of feeling their way around what they want to do with their "setting," which really should have been done beforehand.

I'm probably just reading too much into it. I think the new ogres are little too "smooth" looking, like a stick-figure webcomic version of an ogre, but they're nice-looking minis. Are the released product this polished, or is the quality still hit-and-miss?

Some minis are hit or miss. For the most part, though, the goods ones tend to all be good. The bad ones all look like crap. Not always, though. I got a lot of displacer beasts from one of the latest sets. Some looked good, some didn't. They had a sorta midnight blue wash on all of them which made them look cool, but some had it missing on one side or something like that.

Blood War was the best most-recent set as far as quality is concerned, but then again, I love Planescape. But they did honestly do a good job with it. Against the Giants wasn't so bad. I actually bothered to buy a case or two of that, but mainly because I always do that for the Huge sets. There's always a few bad ones in every set, though.

I'm fairly certain the minis they show off on the previews are production pieces... whereas the minis they show off on the actual containers are paint masters... what the minis would look like before they make budgeting cuts. For instance, the huge Yuan-Ti Anathema looks like crap without those slight light green highlights. It's just a bunch of flat green rope in reality.
