Eh, it's better than (a.) seeing "hobgoblin BRUTE! hobgoblin SOLDIER!" etc., etc., or (b.) using unpronounceable Fantasy Names (TM) instead of slightly hackneyed, but pronounceable, compound names.

Hobgoblin BARBARIAN. Hobgoblin FIGHTER.

There. Done. Minus the gay.

I'm totally being tongue-in-cheek, by the way... though I suppose a few of the names do annoy me.

You are attacked by a Fangblood Goblin, a Bloodfang Hobgoblin, and a Bloodblood Bugbearblood.

I agree with Mike. I don't mind that they do it, but it's annoying when they use it for every creature. Mix it up, 4E!

Goblin Sharpshooter! (I can't fault them this one.)
Aboleth Slime Mage!
Barghest Lord of Tactics!
Icy Skeletal Chimera!
Yuan-ti Duelist!
Choker What Lives in Groves!
Stinging Scorpion of the Lower Planes!
Drow Mother-Fucker! [/i]

Heh. You're right, of course. If it doesn't have at least ten syllables, it doesn't deserve to be a monster name. Wink
